A bright new playground, built to last in London primary school
A bright new playground, built to last in London primary school
The brief
St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in North West London wanted to enhance their outdoor play space to include a range of new sensory, imaginative and physical play equipment and was very keen to install high quality items as a long term investment in the outdoor curriculum.
The plan
After meeting with staff where a range of options were discussed, each piece of equipment was carefully selected to provide excellent play value. To withstand the rigours of daily playtimes, all the equipment was manufactured using recycled and/or HDPE plastic, as such materials are extremely durable and require only minimal maintenance. The new triple play tower features games, a slide and has multiple exit and entry points to enable a lot of pupils to play together at once. A new play den, fire engine, caterpillar tunnel and raft encourages imaginative games and a ‘river run’ water table and sand box provides a rich, tactile play experience.
The result
Staff said that the new play equipment has reinvigorated breaktimes, with pupils zooming around the equipment, letting off steam and making up new games plus the sand and waterplay equipment is proving very popular with the younger pupils.
Head Teacher, Miss Shevlin said installing sturdy, low-maintenance equipment has already proved to be the right decision:
“The pupils are delighted with their new playground which has already made a big difference to our outdoor space. The equipment is robust, high-quality and clearly built to last, plus the entire installation process was smooth and professionally managed from start to finish.”
A playground project similar to this one would cost approx: £42,000 ex VAT.
